Peace Lutheran to Offer Free School Uniforms

Posted

"Adventures on Promise Island” is the theme of Vacation Bible School (VBS) at Peace Lutheran Church, July 23-27. Participants in the VBS program will be eligible to receive three sets of school uniforms and free school supplies following the VBS recognition service at 10 a.m., Sunday, July 29.

“Children from ages 4 through 12 are invited to learn of God’s lifesaving love in a fun-filled tropical atmosphere,” said Betty Ingram, Peace VBS director. Parents can pre-register children by going to the church website, peacelutheranal.org and clicking on  Vacation Bible School on the home page, Ingram said. Registration forms are also available at the church, 8250 Roscoe Road, on the east side of the Foley Beach Express, one half mile south of County Road 12. Parents may also pre-register children by calling the church at 251-974-2545.

Parents will be asked to come to the church from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday July 15, to pick up a registration packet, which will include a form to list children’s ages and sizes for school uniforms. The uniforms and school supplies are part of the ongoing Peace School Uniform/School Supply Program.

Children will receive a Bible pin each day to remind them of the promises they discover at VBS, according to Ingram. Cost of VBS is $5 per child, to cover the cost of materials, she said. Each day’s session will begin at 9 a.m. and end around 12:30, and snacks will be served in the “Coconut Café” each day.

The VBS will also feature “Seaside Celebration” with music, puppets and a tropical atmosphere at the beginning and ending of each day. Bible stories will be told at “Lifeguard Lagoon,” crafts will be done at “Project Pointe,” and games will be held at “Fun Time Falls.”  Pre-school children will enjoy “Tadpole Bay.”

Ten youth and four adults will be coming to Peace from sister church Spirit of Hope Lutheran in Greenwood Village, CO, near Denver. The group will bring its puppet ministry to perform at “Seaside Celebration” and “Tadpole Bay.” “This adds a very special attraction for all children,” Ingram said. “While we are limiting Vacation Bible School to 50 participants, it is open to all children, and we will not turn anyone away,” Ingram said. “It is important to pre-register as soon as possible, however, so that we can accommodate everyone.”
