GULF SHORES, AL - A Baldwin County Sheriff's deputy was traveling westbound on West Beach Boulevard just before 10 p.m. in Gulf Shores on March 14 when he encountered a group of men and women crossing State Highway 182.

According to police, he swerved to avoid them but did make contact with a 21-year-old man from out of state. The man was transported to the hospital where he was treated for some scratches/abrasions and released.

Police say they will release more on the incident sometime March 15.

Residents in the area reported the road was closed for several hours and police said they were conducting an investigation at that time.
