BAY MINETTE, Alabama — A pedestrian was killed Wednesday when he was struck by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 31, about one mile south of Bay Minette.

Allen Lee Cox Jr., 19, of Bay Minette, was struck by a 2006 Suzuki Forenza at about 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, according to a release issued Thursday by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Public Information/Education Unit.

Cox was transported to USA Medical Center in Mobile, where he later died. The driver was not injured and remained at the scene, according to the release.

Alabama State Troopers are investigating the incident.
