JOHN UNDERWOOD/Staff Photos Deputy Jeff Spaller, school resource/community officer; Cpl. Matt Hunady and his canine partner Ling with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department visited St. Patrick School on Wednesday after the school participated in the Pennies for Puppies program to raise money for a new canine officer for the department. The program was sponsored by the Girl Scouts at St. Patrick School, Daisy Troop 8632, Brownie Troop 8634 and Junior Cadet Troop 8260. The school raised a total of 50,200 pennies ($502) for the program, which is looking to raise $14,000 to purchase a fully trained canine officer. Schools county-wide are participating in the program. Pictured above with Spaller, Hunady and School Principal Sister Margaret Harte, are members of the first grade and third grade classes. The first grade raised the most money for an individual class with $100.50, beating out the third grade by just two pennies.
