Keep your eyes on the sky if you plan to be on the beach July 8-11, between Pensacola Beach and Perdido Pass in Orange Beach. The Blue Angels will be overhead.
The Santa Rosa Island Authority staff and air show performers finalized plans for the 2020 Pensacola Beach Air Show set to take place July 8-11. The announcement included news of an expanded footprint.
The four-day event program has been designed around social distancing in observance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendation for the COVID-19 virus.
To further comply with the CDC recommendations, the 2020 air show has no center point, which allows the footprint to be expanded running from Park East on Pensacola Beach to Orange Beach. Fans of the Blue Angels will have an opportunity to view and hear the series of beach flyovers.
The flyovers in Orange Beach will be flyovers only and no maneuvers will occur. The Blue Angels will turn around at Perdido Pass.
The show will begin at 10 a.m. each day and last approximately 45 minutes, weather permitting. Each day will have similar maneuvers. This expanded schedule will give the public four different opportunities to view the performances at least once.
On Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, three civilian acts will follow the Blue Angels performance, and these will be flown over Casino Beach from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
