Robert W. “Bob” Perkins, 88, a native of Stapleton and a resident of Loxley, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009.
He was in the U.S. Army, serving during World War II and was a prisoner of war. He also retired from International Paper Co., Mobile and was a lifetime member of the Ex-POW Association of Mobile; and was a member of the Christian Faith Assembly of Silverhill.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Gather Summerlin Perkins.
Survivors include four daughters, Barbara Calhoun and Becky Perkins, both of Loxley, Jackie Beisel and Dell Scherf, both of Silverhill; two sons, Randy Perkins and Rex Perkins, both of Loxley; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16 from the chapel of Mack Funeral Home.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Covenant Hospice, 1040 Stanton Road, Daphne, AL 36526.
