Peter Alfred “Pete” Bouton passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 21, 2015. He was born on Nov. 11, 1926 in Greenville, Pa., and was preceded in death by parents, Peter Bouton and Mildred Bouton.
A WWII veteran, Pete joined the U.S. Navy at age 17, where he spent a year in Kisarazu, Japan. He had many adventures while overseas and was proud to serve his country.
In 1949 he met the love of his life, Imogene (Jean) Suiter, and in 1950 they were married in Hollywood, Calif. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
The couple resided in Columbus, Ohio where Pete honed his craft of welding and retired after 30 years as a highly respected maintenance welder at General Motors.
Pete was an avid shark fisherman and car enthusiast. In 1986, he and his wife retired to Gulf Shores, Ala. where he enjoyed fishing for sharks and other large fish.
He possessed great strength of character as well as physical strength and enjoyed doing pull-ups. He remained strong throughout his life and remarkably could still do pull-ups until the age of 86!
He was an animated storyteller, who loved to entertain with tales of his many escapades. Pete was a quick-witted, kindhearted man with a great sense of humor.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Imogene (Suiter) Bouton; son, Michael (Janice) Bouton; daughter, Debra (Wane) Wier; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
