'Phins win fast-paced contest at Bayside

DAPHNE, Ala. —The Dolphin’s John Pouparina and Bayside’s Spencer Newman each scored 30 points in a 48-minute basket-to-basket sprint Monday night with Gulf Shores coming out on top 74-62 at the Admirals’ Louise Moorer Gym in Daphne.

The 30-all tie was broken in part by additional double-digit shooting by GSHS in Parker Mason’s 18 points, Ben Martin’s  10 points. And Sai Patel who added six for Gulf Shores High (2-2).

The Admirals picked up 11 from Seth Matthews, seven from Adam Nielson and six by Craig Jones. Mason and Newman had four three-point shots each out of a total of 15 made. Of those. GSHS had 10 from outside the arc.

The teams also tied at the free throw line with 12 points each. BA scored on 12-of-19 free throws. The Dolphins were 12-for-21 at the line.
