Phyllis Gantt Pugh, 86, a native of Andalusia and a longtime resident of Foley, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015.
Ms. Pugh was an active member of Foley First Baptist Church since 1962, where she loved her Sunday school class. Ms. Pugh was a founding member of the Foley Christian Women’s Club and remained active for 38 years. She also was a former member of the Scarlett O’hatters Society.
Ms. Phyllis Pugh was proudly married for 62 years to the late John “J.B.” Pugh. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Phil (Sr.) and Dolly (Crum) Gantt; sister, Ethel Gantt; and three brothers, Oliver Pollard Gantt, Bobby Gantt and Lamont Gantt.
Survivors of Ms. Pugh include daughter, Vickie Pugh Wilkinson (Larry) of Daphne; sons, Rick Pugh of Gulf Shores and Danny Pugh (Vera) of Foley; daughters, Sandy Pugh Norwood (Tom) of Foley and Beckie Pugh Rapier (Bill) of Bon Secour; caregiver, Stella Faust (Bobby Jr.) of Foley; sisters, Loretta Gantt of Mobile and Joanne Williams of Andalusia; brothers, Billy Gantt (Virginia) of Lucedale, Miss.; brother Phil Gantt Jr. (Susan) of Andalusia; sisters-in-law, Gail Gantt of Pensacola, Amy Gantt of Brewton and Gloethel Gantt of Brewton; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members.
There will be a visitation for Ms. Phyllis Pugh Tuesday, March 24, 2015, from 6-8 p.m., at Foley First Baptist Church, as well as one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. The service will begin at 11 a.m. at Foley First Baptist Church.
Burial will follow the service in Pine Rest Memorial Park.
The Pugh family suggests that memorial donations be made in lieu of flowers to Foley First Baptist Church Bus Fund, P.O. Box 307, Foley, AL 36536.
