DAPHNE—Tereance Pinkney has been named the head girl's basketball coach at Daphne High School according to a press release by DHS athletic
director Glenn Vickery.
Pinkney, a standout Juco basketball player at Faulkner State Community will inherit a Lady Trojan team that finished last year with aN 18-8 record.
"I am very appreciative of the opportunity to be the new coach of the Daphne program," he said. "I am eager to take on the challenge of continuing the winning tradition that has been established by past players and coaches.
"The team brings back a group of girls who are eager to win and love the game of basketball. I want to thank Coach Vickery for having enough faith in me to give this opportunity, and all the past coaches I have coached with for the knowledge and experience to get me to this point. This is a good team and I hope to continue the tradition."
Vickery said the new coach was very qualified for the job.
"Coach Pinkney has done an outstanding job as an assistant coach (2 years as assistant coach-boys varsity) while at Robertsdale High School. He brings lots of energy, passion and excitement to the table. We are extremely excited to have a quality person and coach to lead our girls," he added.
Pinkney will begin immediately with the varsity girl basketball team and will serve as an assistant coach for the freshmen football team.
