After probable cases of swine flu were found in the Huntsville area, the Alabama High School Athletic Association has decided to postpone and reschedule all athletic events scheduled for this weekend and the beginning of next week.

The Class 4A-6A track and field state championship that was originally scheduled to take place this weekend in Gulf Shores will now be played at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex from May 7 through 9. The championship will now include all classes, 1A-6A.

At the same time, the high school softball tournament that was scheduled for the Sportsplex this weekend has been moved to the same location for May 8 and 9.

AHSAA baseball, softball, soccer and golf playoffs will resume on Tuesday.

Baseball playoff best-of-three series originally scheduled for yesterday and today will begin on Tuesday. The third round of the playoffs will begin on Friday. Baseball state finals are scheduled for May 12 through 15 in Montgomery.

In softball, all area tournaments, including the ones hosted by Fairhope, Spanish Fort and Baldwin County High School will begin on Tuesday and Wednesday. Regional tournaments will then be played May 8 and 9, including the regional set to be hosted in Gulf Shores.

Quarterfinal soccer playoff games will be played on Tuesday, while golf section tournaments will also begin on Tuesday.
