BAY MINETTE – The son of Bay Minette Police Chief Clarence Crook was jailed Friday after a domestic disturbance with his girlfriend.
Clarence Crook IV, 26, of 43085 Whitehouse Fork Road, Bay Minette, was arrested by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office around 1 p.m. on May 10. Less than two hours later, he was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Center, charged with a single count of third degree domestic assault. Crook, who is a corporal with the Bay Minette Police Department, was later released from jail on a $2,500 bond.
Police Chief Crook, who is recuperating at home from double knee surgery, declined comment when contacted by a reporter.
Capt. James Eissler released a two-sentence press release Friday night in connection with the arrest. The release said the younger Crook has been placed on administrative leave until “the investigation into this matter is complete.”
