SUMMERDALE, Ala. — Summerdale Police Chief Jimmy Davis is warning residents of a phone scam involving the Summerdale Police.

“They’re using my name and St. (Hugh) Bohanan’s name to flimflam people out of money,” Davis said.

He explained that scammers are calling Summerdale residents, saying they having items in Mexico waiting to be delivered and they should call a specific phone number, asking for Davis or Bohanan in order to make payment to have the items cleared for shipment.

“I don’t know if anybody’s out of money,” Davis said, explaining that would-be victims alerted police to the situation. “But we want people to know what’s going on.”
