ORANGE BEACH, AL - Orange Beach Police were assisting Baldwin County deputies in the search for a man officers were looking to serve an arrest warrant on and take into custody on Nov. 5.

Thursday afternoon officials identified the man as Christopher Barnwell, 27, of Elberta. According to Baldwin County jail records Barnwell has a history of several arrests dating back to 2005, most of them involving drugs.

Also on his record are arrests for attempting to elude and in June he was charged by Foley Police with possession of a pistol by a violent felon.

The car was stopped between McNutt Lane and White Avenue on Canal Road when the man fled on foot in the woods along White and east of Bayshore Towers. Alabama State Troopers brought in an helicopter which hovered in the area for about an hour searching for Barnwell.

Orange Beach had police officers stationed on Canal Road and other side streets on the look out for Barnwell. Officers said he had a tattoo on his neck and a tattoo sleeve on one arm.
