ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — It wasn’t just the usual morning rush at the Burger King on Highway 59 in Robertsdale Thursday, Oct. 22.
In addition to the usual round of coffee and hash browns, the staff of the Burger King in Robertsdale confronted a robber.
“About 5:45 a.m. the suspect came into the store and demanded cash,” said Sgt. Rex Bishop, a spokesman for the Robertsdale Police Department. He added that the clerk gave the suspect an “undisclosed” amount of cash.
No weapon was found when the suspect, Christopher Lance Fontenot, 25 was searched, but police say he made the clerk believe he had one. No one was injured in the robbery, but Bishop said the clerk was “scared to death.”
While scared, the clerk and the store manager were able to give police a good description of the suspect and his vehicle, a red 2001 Camaro.
According to Bishop, a police officer near the scene spotted the car and stopped it as Fontenot was returning to his home address. Money from the robbery was found in his vehicle, and when he was brought back to the restaurant the clerk and manager identified him as the robber.
According to Bishop, Fontenot was scheduled to be transferred to the Baldwin County Corrections Center Oct. 22 or 23.
