ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — A Bon Secour man has been arrested and charged with domestic violence after a woman was found lying in the road on Highway 59 in Robertsdale on Monday.

The victim, identified as Sherry Sayne of Bon Secour, suffered injuries after reportedly being thrown from a vehicle, then struck by the vehicle in the southbound lanes of Highway 59, south of Highway 104, said Rex Bishop, chief investigator with the Robertsdale Police Department, in an emailed statement issued Monday.

Police say Robert Sayne was driving the vehicle. He has been charged with domestic violence, second degree. He was taken to the Robertsdale Police Department where he is awaiting transfer to the Baldwin County Corrections Center in Bay Minette.

Sherry Sayne was treated at the scene and transported by ambulance to Robertsdale High School, which was determined to be the closest safe landing zone for LifeFlight. She was listed in stable condition at the scene and transported by LifeFlight to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

The incident is still under investigation at this time, Bishop said.
