SILVERHILL, Ala. — Someone passing by the WEDCO jewelry store on Highway 104 in Silverhill wouldn’t see anything amiss. The trim one-story red brick building still fronts 104, just a short way from town hall. Signs in the front yard advertise the shop’s jewelry repair services and that the store purchases gold and silver.

But, the sign on the front door wasn’t “business as usual.”

The sign read: “I am going to try to open Wed. at 9 a.m. Thank you for your prayers.”

The sign was there because the store was robbed around 1 p.m. Friday, March 13

According to Major Anthony Lowery, spokesman with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s office, police are searching for

“three Hispanic males,” in connection with the armed robbery.

A black SUV, which was believed to have been used in the robbery, was located on Woodpecker Road, east of County Road 55, Lowery said.

The owner of the business, Wayne Dubrava, was said to be injured in the holdup, but Lowery says he will be alright. His assailants made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry.

Lowery says the Silverhill Police Department has “passed the case on to us for investigation.”

The suspects were said to be wearing green and white polo shirts, and were armed.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Silverhill Police at 945-5200 or the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office at 937-0200.
