Police: Child porn found on computer

DAPHNE, Ala. — A North Carolina man who took residence in Daphne for two years, having failed to register as a sex offender in his home state, kept a computer with child pornography movies in his Lake Forest condo, Daphne police said.

John Ashley Dunn’s computer was seized after he was arrested, according to police, who said the Daphne PD has requested — and the U.S. Attorneys Office in Mobile has agreed to assist with — an investigation of movies.

Daphne police have no evidence any of the children are from Daphne or the surrounding area, according to a news release submitted by Lt. Jud Beedy.

Daphne police said they planned to obtain a warrant for Dunn for possession of child pornography.

This is still an ongoing investigation and any additional information will be released at a later date, police said.

Police March 30 arrested Dunn, whom they said had been living in the Jubilee City after being convicted in 2007 for solicitation of a child by computer to commit an unlawful sex act.

Police said North Carolina authorities had been searching for Dunn since he was released from prison in that state. North Carolina officials learned the man was living in Daphne, according to a Daphne PD news release. Daphne police aided an investigation that revealed Dunn was living in a Lake Forest condominium.

Dunn was arrested at his work place without incident, police said.
