FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The Eastern Shore Art Center’s second annual Kentucky Derby Day is scheduled for May 1, from 3 to 6 p.m., at the Sonny Hill-Clearwater Polo Complex and another sellout crowd is expected. Time is running out to participate in this exciting event, and you won’t want to miss it.
There will be a ladies’ hat competition, a “Dapper Dan” contest for the Best Dressed Man and a table decorating competition. Also included at this signature event are artists’ tents and a silent auction with fabulous “must-have” items.
Baumhower’s Aloha Hospitality will provide a Caribbean Creole meal. There will adult beverages and, of course, the obligatory mint julep.
The actual Kentucky Derby runs at 5 that afternoon, and will be viewed on big-screen TVs during the event. Prizes will be awarded to a lucky guest who chooses either the win, place or show horse at the “betting” booth prior to the race. And, one grand prize will be awarded to a person who picked all three.
Only 600 tickets are available at $50 each, or a table of 10 for $450. Each ticket includes the meal and two drink tickets.
Tickets may be purchased online at www.esartcenter.com, by phone at (251) 928-2228 with MasterCard/Visa or by sending a check to ESAC, 401 Oak St., Fairhope, AL 36532.
All proceeds benefit ESAC’s operating funds.
Ticket deadline is April 23, so hurry and reserve your place because the horses are nearing the gate.
