Joseph Hoskins Potter Sr., 87, a longtime resident of Fairhope, died Thursday, March 5, 2009.

He was veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He retired from Chevron USA after 28 years.

He also worked many years as the bookkeeper at City Market, and was known to many as the “Income Tax Man”.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Florence M. Potter of Fairhope; twp daughters, Mary (Terry) Blair of Fairhope and Ruthie Byrd of Klamath Falls, Ore.; three sons, Joey Potter of Atlanta, Mitchell (Keiko) Potter of Pensacola, Fla., and John Potter of Longview, Wash.; sister, Nancy (Roy) Adams of Naples, Fla.; nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 9 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 10 from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Fish River Baptist Church, 1740 County Road 33, Fairhope, AL 36532
