Prattville beats Foley 31-14

FOLEY — The Prattville Lions (8-1) defeated the Foley Lions (4-5) 31-14 Friday behind two TD's — one rushing and one passing — from quarterback Sam Gilbert.

Gilbert completed 9 of 18 passes for 102 yards and rushed six times for 129 yards.

Foley junior quarterback Darius Powell was 13 of 19 for 109 yards and carried it 16 times for 70 yards and a rushing TD.

Prattville scored first at the 9:01 mark on a 1-yard TD run to go up 7-0 after a successful PAT.

With 1:01 left in the first, the visiting Lions scored on a 45-yard TD run to up 14-0.

At the 7:41 mark in the second, Foley junior Greg Logan scored a rushing TD to cut Prattville's lead to 14-7.

Prattville scored on a 34-yard TD run with 4:06 left in the first half to pull ahead 21-7.

The visiting Lions connected on a 24-yard field goal with less than a minute left in the half to go up 24-7 at the break.

With 3:24 left in the third, Prattville scored on an 8-yard Gilbert TD pass to widen their lead to 31-7 after a successful PAT.

Foley junior kicker Jorge Santa Maria missed a 12-yard FG attempt with 6:57 to go in the game.

However, a Prattville roughing the kicker penalty gave Foley a new set of downs and a chance to pull closer.

At the 6:15 mark, senior running back Marcus Washington scored on a 7-yard TD run to cut Prattville's lead to 31-14.
