Mrs. Jess Roland McDannel of Springville and Joseph Phillip Pridgen Jr. of Brentwood, Tenn., announce the engagement of their daughter, Tara Michelle Pridgen, to 1st Lt. Kyle Benson Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Young Davis of LaGrange, Ga.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rex Donald Hollis of Birmingham and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Phillip Pridgen Sr. of Bay Minette.
She is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia where she received her Bachelor of Science in elementary education and also served as president of Phi Mu Sorority. She then received her Master of Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is a teacher at Clay Elementary School.
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mrs. Herbert Columbus Leggett and the late Herbert Columbus Leggett of Atlanta, Mrs. A.D. Davis Jr. and the late A.D. Davis Jr. of Pine Mountain, G.
He received his Bachelor of Science in wildlife management from the University of Georgia and also completed the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program. Upon graduation, he was commissioned into the U.S. Army and is an officer stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C.
The couple will exchange vows at 6 p.m. Sept. 19, 2009 at South Highland Presbyterian Church in Birmingham.
