Public hearing on Daphne sign ordinance this week

DAPHNE, Alabama (GCN)— A special meeting of the Planning Commission this Thursday to review the city’s sign ordinance will include a public participation section for citizens and business owners.

The City Council and commission have been reviewing the sign ordinance to see what improvements should be made, if any.

A few amendments to the existing sign ordinance have been proposed and will be discussed at the meeting this week. One would change the definition of a “sandwich sign,” and another would redefine and expand the language under “prohibited sign types.”

The commission is also expected to discuss A-frame signs and temporary promotional banners.

The public can review the approximately three pages of proposed changes at City Hall.

The meeting will take place at 4 p.m. this Thursday, Feb. 7, at City Hall.
