LOXLEY — The Loxley Town Council handled mostly routine matters at the regularly scheduled meeting Monday evening.
After approving the minutes from the previous meeting and paying city bills, the council set a public hearing on amendments to the subdivision regulations and zoning ordinance to change the fee schedule for Sept. 10 at 6 p.m..
The Loxley Planning Commission voted at its regular meeting July 26 to recommend that the council consider the amendment.
If the new fee schedule is adopted, fees for preliminary plat would change from $150 to $250; fees per lot would change from $10 to $30 and the fee for amendments would remain at $50. Final plat fee would change from #100 to $150 and a per lot fee would be $30. Site plan fees would be changed from $25 to $250 and rezoning from $100 to $250.
The town’s planning commission provided the council with a chart showing that Loxley’s fees as they exist now are much lower than surrounding areas.
The council passed a resolution to move leftover funds from a 2003 bond issue into the town’s general fund.
In other business, the council:
— Issued a proclamation to observe September as National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month.
— Voted to accept a new contract with Blue Cross Blue Shield for health insurance for employees.
— Entered into agreements with AlaTax for business license discovery cross checks and revenue administration, collection of taxes.
— Approved attendance by Jeanette Hadley, secretary for the Loxley Police Department to attend the Alabama Criminal Justice Users Conference and Exhibition in Gulf Shores Sept. 17-20.
The council went into a brief executive session to discuss possible litigation at the request of the town’s attorney, Shawn Alvez, before adjourning.
