Public Notice: County to conduct 400 acre wetland restoration burn

Posted

GULF SHOERS, AL - On Saturday, January 31, Baldwin County contractors will be conducting a wetland restoration burn at the Baldwin County Wetland Mitigation Site to comply with Army Corps of Engineers requirements. This 400 acre tract of land is located north of Waterway Boulevard West/Oyster Bay Road in Gulf Shores.

The County has upgraded and maintained fire lines within this area and around the perimeter between the burn site and the various subdivisions around the burn area. Areas bordering the burn site should expect temporary impacts from smoke and the fire itself could get within visual distance of neighboring subdivisions.

While the City of Gulf Shores will not be directly involved in this burn, Fire and Emergency Services personnel are aware of the scope and timeline of work and a certified burn manager will be on site during the entire burn.

You can see the fire area highlighted on this aerial photo below. Click image to enlarge.
