DAPHNE, Ala. — The City Council set a called meeting for June 30 to interview three candidates for the public works director position, left vacant in May when 30-year employee Bill Eady retired.
City Clerk David Cohen said the body originally planned to conduct the interviews today, but that meeting has been canceled.
Meanwhile, Cohen said District 4 Councilman Greg Burnam has still not tendered a formal resignation letter, but the longtime councilman—who announced his resignation during the June 7 meeting—still intends to leave public service to devote more time to his local business following the July 19 meeting.
To date, one potential applicant has expressed interest in Burnam’s seat, but Cohen did not have the name of the individual readily available.
