ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — According to Sgt. Rex Bishop, Chief Investigator for the Robertsdale Police Department, Walter J. Bowen, 67, of Robertsdale was indicted by a Baldwin County Grand Jury on two charges of sexual abuse of a child under 12 years of age. One case was investigated by the Robertsdale Police Department, and the other by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

“We received a report in August,” said Bishop. He said the department investigated and the grand jury returned an indictment.

Bowen was arrested and sent to the Baldwin County Correctional Center on Wednesday, Dec. 16, Bishop said. As of this writing, there is no word on bail.

While Bishop did not want to reveal too many details, he did say the youngster in the Robertsdale investigation was “non family,” and that the Department of Human Resources was involved.

Bishop said that Bowen is the owner of radio station WNSI, which has studios on Fairground Road in Robertsdale.
