Ted D. Ray, age 77, a native of Philadelphia, Miss., and a resident of Orange Beach, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at his residence.

He was owner and operator of Gulf Coast Foundry in Foley from 1967 until 1976. He was chairman of the Orange Beach Water Authority, former Fire Chief of the Orange Beach Volunteer Fire Department and an avid outdoorsman.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Ray.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Ray of Orange Beach, AL; one daughter, Susan (Mitchell) Bragg of Jacksonville, AL; one son, Ted D. (Gwen) Ray, Jr. of Daphne, AL; six sisters; one brother; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at noon with services at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5 from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley. Interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park, Foley, AL.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Orange Beach Volunteer Fire Department, American Lung Association, or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
