Melba Olivia Reed, 94, a resident of Frisco City, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009 at the family residence.
She owned and operated a day care for many years. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward D. Reed, and two grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, James Edward Reed of Bay Minette; four daughters, Ruth McIntosh of Camden, Ann Stokes of Mexia, Mattie Wilson of Tensaw and Edna Maughon of Goodway; 12 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Saturday, Sept. 12 at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 13 at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Whittington and the Rev. Glen A. Whitfield Jr. officiating. Burial followed at New Home Cemetery in Monroeville.
