Reed Myers, 98, of Fairhope, Alabama, ceased his travels on this earth and was raised to eternal rest on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey H. Myers and Gladys Burnham Cooper, first wife, Muriel E. Planck and infant daughter, Deborah s. Myers.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Coleman Wood Myers, son David Reed Myers, wife Susan Cooper, granddaughter, Samantha Miriam Cooper Myers of Monterey, Massachusetts, and stepchildren, G. R. Wood III (Trey) and wife, Lisa Hawkins of Fairhope, Alabama, Henry Coleman Wood of Mobile, Alabama, Louis Edward Wood and wife, Ellen Danise Moss of Montgomery, Alabama, Camilla Adele Wood of Fairhope, Alabama and grandchildren Jason Bradley Wood, Claire Adele Wood Kolb and Katherine (Katie) Wood.

Reed was born in Chicago, Illinois Sept. 19, 1923. At a young age, his family moved to Cranford, New Jersey, where he graduated from Cranford High School in 1942. He worked for Western Electric, maker of the telephone, for 38-and-a-half years going into the Army in 1943. After World War II, he returned to Western Electric. In 1950 he married Muriel Planck, and his son, David, was born in 1958. Reed became a Master Mason in 1946. In 1981 he was appointed to the Grand Staff of the Grand Lodge of New Jersey as Jr. Grand Deacon.

After retirement he and his wife (who predeceased him in 1983) traveled to Scotland and various islands on the Caribbean. In 1991 love again visited him and he married Anna Wood, moving to Fairhope where he had lived during the Depression and attended the School of Organic Education. He became a dual member of Greeno Lodge in Fairhope.

Reed and Anna celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary Aug. 10, 2021. A Masonic funeral will be held in New Jersey and a Celebration of Life will be held in Fairhope at a future date.
