ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — If you’ve ever thought that kids are the only ones having fun at summer camps and clinics, then think again.
The city of Orange Beach Parks and Recreation Department is offering adults the opportunity to get in on the action as well.
Courses in both sailing and kayaking are being offered. Courses will be held at Waterfront Park, located on Canal Road.
Kayak Courses are ongoing and are scheduled for July 25, Aug. 22 and Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
These half-day skills courses are for people who want to learn the basics of paddling a kayak.
American Canoe Association Certified Instructors Steve and Michelle Baker conduct the classes and focus on safety, equipment, rescue and instruction on proper stroke and maneuvering techniques.
All paddling equipment is provided. The course fee is $65 per person and the minimum age is 13.
Advance registration is required by Thursday before the date of the class. Space is limited (only 12 per class).
Adult Sailing Lessons will be offered the week of July 27–Aug. 1.
Two classes have been scheduled:
Students will receive both classroom and hands-on sailing instruction. Participants need to bring their own life jacket and wear water shoes.
The course fee is $75. Advanced registration is required and space is limited (only six per class).
