SPANISH FORT, Ala. — In response to complaints from neighboring residents, the City Council resurrected consideration of an ordinance Monday that would establish strict standards for the number of people allowed to live and park at rental houses within the city limits.

“We have to be careful how we travel down this road,…but we’re going to work through this thing and give you some tranquility,” Mayor Joe Bonner told Artillery Range Road resident Charles Kettel.

Kettel, acting as spokesperson for the street, has been petitioning since July 2009 for stricter standards akin to those required by professionally-run apartment complexes to be adopted for occupants of rental houses.
