I am infuriated by the fact that I am prohibited from voting in the upcoming election for Sen. Bradley Byrne’s replacement because of the gerrymandering of District 32 by the Democrats for the sole purpose of protecting Sen. Pat Lindsey’s democratic district!
My Daphne address happens to lie within the confines of the small area that was carved out of District 32 and included in District 22.
Webster’s New World Dictionary defines “gerrymandering” as dividing a voting area in such a way as to give an unfair advantage to one political party. In my opinion, such shenanigans should be illegal!
I understand that the next redistricting will occur in 2010 following the census of that year. I appeal to our state legislators to establish districts in a fair and equitable manner as prescribed by law at that time.
I am sure that my feelings concerning this matter are shared by many registered voters who are being deprived of their inherent right to vote for the candidate of their choice in this election.
