Resident: Quit picking on the mayor

This is an open letter to Mr. Chris Warner, the very outspoken former candidate for the position of Mayor of Fairhope.

Mr. Warner, the election is over and you lost. All of your rhetoric is not going to change that. You are constantly berating Mayor Tim Kant for his “shortcomings” and, to some degree, belittling the city of Fairhope. The citizens of Fairhope have voted. They didn’t listen to your rantings during the campaign so what makes you think they are listening to you now?

Sure, Fairhope has faults. But regardless of your tirade these faults are not totally, if at all, the responsibility of Mayor Kant. What about the members of the City Council who, for years, have had the ability and responsibility to see that Fairhope remains the beautiful and friendly city that so many people see. Do they not share any of the burden of the faults that you seem to think exist?

I would prefer, if you insist, to see you place blame on the shoulders of all of our leaders. Why single out a very popular mayor? Do I detect a touch of sour grapes?
