DAPHNE, Ala.—Two authors who write stories in the realm of “once upon a time” will be at the Daphne Public Library for its “Once Upon a Time at the Daphne Library” event April 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Fanny Barnett, children’s librarian, said during the event the library will be transformed into the setting of a fairytale for some free, family-friendly fun.

“It is a free family festival for people to come. We will have activities for the kids, there will be jumpy houses, we will have entertainers including a magician and we will have two authors in the library who will be promoting their books and signing them,” Barnett said.

Barnett said the event is called “Once Upon a Time” because there will be arts and crafts about fairytales and many people will be dressed up as fairytale characters.

“It is just a fun family event and it is all free. This event is just to promote the library, get people to come to the library and get them interested in reading,” Barnett said.

Sheila Alberstadt and Baskette are local authors. The authors’ books will be on sale and the authors will sign books during the event.

The event will also include a fire truck, the D.A.R.E. car, the Easter Bunny, the Chick-fil-A Cow, representatives from 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center, animals from the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, a dance troupe, trail maids, clowns, games, prizes, crafts and free hot dogs and snow cones.
