FAIRHOPE, Ala. – Volunteers from the Baldwin-Mobile Bay area met on the Fairhope campus of Faulkner State Community College Wednesday to learn how they can help with the Audubon Coastal Bird Survey.
“We want people to see what's happening around them because of the oil spill,” said Dr. Tom Bancroft, chief scientist at the National Audubon Society, who led the workshop.
The 9 a.m. To 3 p.m. workshop, co-hosted by FSCC and the Mobile Bay Audubon Society, is the first in a series of training sessions being organized for volunteers. This week's participants are among 27,000 Americans from across the United States, who asked – with a mouse click on the National Audubon Society website – to take part in this “citizen science” effort organized by Audubon.
