United Airlines served the Gulf Coast area from the Mobile airport in the 1940s but service was discontinued in the 1960s. Retirees at the luncheon were excited over United returning as a service provider to the Gulf Coast since the company merged with Continental Airlines in early October. The friendly skies logo will soon appear on planes flying out of Pensacola, and Gulf Coast retirees will be able to fly United again, enjoying the perks of retirement.
