Rev. Dr. Karnig M. Kazanjian Jr., 73, of Foley, passed away March 21, 2015.

He was the pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Silverhill.

He graduated from Memorial High School in Guttenberg, N.J., the University of Maryland, BA, Farleigh Dickerson University, MA, Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, Columbia, S.C.,

master of divinity, and Lutheran Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, Pa., doctorate of ministry.

He was an ordained minister for a span of 28 years, and served churches in Murphreesboro, Tenn., Anniston, Jacksonville, Ala., Mobile and Silverhill.

Served in the VA as chaplain in Murphreesboro, Tenn., hospital chaplain at Providence Hospital in Mobile, and served many years as a hospice chaplain.

He is survived by his wife, Kathi Kazanjian of Foley; two sons, Keith Kazanjian of Hiram, Ga. and Kevin Kazanjian of Anniston.

A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at 10 a.m., from Zion Lutheran Church in Silverhill, with the Rev. Lyndon Korhonen and the Rev. James Korzun officiating.
