Rev. Hazel Ladell Nye

Rev. Hazel Ladell Nye, age 80, of Stockton transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012 at North Baldwin Hospital in Bay Minette.

He was a native of Stockton and a graduate of the Vaughn School in Stockton and he attended Century College in Mobile. Nye was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years of service. After retiring from the military he worked as a machine operator for International Paper Co., and later retired as a master chef with the McDermott Co. He was the pastor of the Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ in Stockton for more than 33 years. In his leisure time, Nye enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading and cooking. Nye was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Mae Nye; his parents, Clinton and Levenia Nye Sr.; three brothers, Clinton Nye Jr.; Fred Nye and Carlton Nye. Those left to mourn his passing are his three daughters, Nancy (Enoch) Williams; Catherine Matthews and Eula (Stanley) Jones all of Stockton; three sons, Winston Nye of Chickasaw; Havel Nye and Mitchell (Patricia) Nye both of Stockton; two sisters, Ethel Baker of New Castle, Del., and Rosetta Crawford of Dothan; one brother, Ferry (Mary) Nye of Montgomery; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ with the Pastor Labarron Morrissette officiating. Retirement of his remains with full military honors will be in the Robinson Cemetery in Stockton. Public visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 5, 2012 from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home and he will lie instate one hour prior to the funeral service at the church with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC of Atmore directing.
