Richard J. “Dick” Riley, 80, of Fairhope, passed away Friday Feb. 22, 2013.

He was born in Caro, Mich., and lived in four different states and seven different places throughout his life. His professional career was primarily in the oil industry where he was in marketing for AMOCO, did consulting for BP, and owned 3 Truck Stops in Indiana and New Mexico. He loved to fish, hunt, ski, play golf and travel. He had a great concern for politics and his well known sense of humor would have appreciated an early condolence that stated “May he rest in eternal non-political peace”. Dick was a member of St. Francis at the Point Anglican Church and worked with and supported The Children’s Miracle Network. Memorials may be made to either of these or to a Charity of Choice. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Hamilton Riley; daughters, Pam (Russ) Messick, Billie Jo Riley both of Boulder, Colo, Deborah (Tom) Russell of Venice Beach, Calif; son, Chris Riley of Fairhope; a brother, Gary (Georgine) Riley of Gainesville, Ga; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A private family service will take place at St. Francis and burial will be at a later date in Caro, Mich. Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home in Daphne, Alabama.
