H. Alan “Popcorn” Richardson, 50, a native of Alburquerque, N.M., a lifelong resident of Foley, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008 after a long battle with cancer.
He was a 16-year employee of Reynolds Ace Hardware in Foley and worked for years with Shoreline True Value and Gatlin Lumber Company.
He was one of the founding members of the Krewe of Les Beau Geste and the Foley Mardi Gras Association that brought the Mardi Gras parade to Foley.
He was a commander of the Sons of the American Legion, Foley Squadron 99 for a number of years.
Survivors include his loving wife and companion, Liz Anderson; mother, Lucille Richardson of Foley and Lawton, Okla.; brother, Jim (Noppy) Richardson of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; brother, Mike Richardson of Foley; step-daughter, Denise (Brian) Poczekaj of Foley; step-sons, Terry Poczekaj and Eric Poczekaj, of both Norfolk, Va., and Randy Poczekaz of Kent; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation begins at 1 p.m. with a memorial service at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1 at Pine Rest Funeral Home, Foley.
