GULF SHORES, Ala. — Hundreds of fans gathered at The Hangout in Gulf Shores on Friday to meet and mingle with “the two sexiest fat men alive” as Rick and Bubba broadcast their syndicated morning show live from Gulf Shores.

Hosted by Sunny 105.7 Radio, South Baldwin County and Perdido Key’s only FM station and one of the many Rick and Bubba affiliates, the comedy duo did four hours of live radio, taking time to take pictures and sign autographs with many of their fans.

“I never miss an opportunity to see Rick and Bubba when they are in the area,” said Lynn Smith who ventured over from Pensacola to hang out with Rick and Bubba. “We are originally from Gadsden and have been listening to these two for years. You don’t ever know what you are going to get with radio personalities these days, but this has always been a family-oriented show that we are not ashamed to let our children listen to.”

Rick and Bubba entertained the crowd with many of their  familiar show bits, and took phone calls as well.

“Ever since the tragedy that Rick and his family experienced, and seeing how he has handled it has caused me to be a stronger Christian,” said Rick Braswell, a Baldwin County resident. “I am proud of the stance that these guys take on morality and just good common sense, plus, they are really funny.”

Barbara Jones, who was donning a Rick and Bubba t-shirt and claims to have every book they have written and every CD they have produced said Rick and Bubba are like a member of the family.

“Since my kids were small, Rick and Bubba have been part of our morning routine,” Jones recalled. “My kids have literally grown us listening and they have brought so much joy to our lives. I am very excited that even after we moved here from Birmingham, we were still able to listen to the show. Mornings just would not be the same.”

Lisa Christian, who does middays on Sunny 105.7 and is a poplular local musician, provided some live music, and Gulf Shores High School Ernie Rosado and football coach Mark Freeman, presented Rick and Bubba with an official Dolphins t-shirt.

Rick and Bubba can be heard weekdays on Sunny 105.7-FM from 5 a.m. until 10 a.m.
