Ricky Ronald Cotton, 63, a native of Mobile and longtime resident of Citronelle and Orange Beach, died at home surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015.
Ricky had many accomplishments in his lifetime. He was owner of Cotton’s Video and Appliance and Mini Warehouses, and Crete Designs, and was a licensed boat captain, affectionately known as Capt. Rick.
He loved working in his yard and sharing his plants and flowers with family and friends, and was very proud to receive the honor of “Yard of the Month.”
He loved being on the water, whether fishing, scuba diving or cruising in the boat, he was content.
Ricky’s real passion was his family. He loved sitting in the swing holding hands with his wife, Jeanie; planting flowers with his granddaughters, Blakely and Ellie; fishing with his son, Craig and grandsons CJ and Joshua; and enjoying a quite cookout at home with his daughter, Nikki and son Andy. He was always happy when family came to visit.
Ricky was preceded in death by his son, Craig Cotton; mother, Mildred Hembree; and father, James (JJ) Cotton.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jeanie Cotton of Orange Beach; daughter, Nikki Walker; son, Andy Walker; granddaughters, Blakely and Ellie Walker of Foley; grandsons, CJ and Joshua Cotton of Gulf Shores; brothers, Randy (Angel) Cotton of Daphne and Mike Cotton of Olive Branch, Miss.; sister, Peggy (Jim) Abbey of Olive Branch, Miss.; brother-in-law, Ricky (Linda) Gibson; sisters-in-law, Cathy (Mike) Sykes, Gidget (Glyn) Byrd, Linda (Bobby) Covington and Carla Dixon, all of whom he loved as brothers and sisters; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at Ricky and Jeanie’s home at 26548 Marina Road in Orange Beach.
A private scattering of ashes in the Gulf waters will take place in the summer of 2015.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up an account at Regions Bank to help with the expenses that have accumulated over the months during Ricky’s battle with cancer. Alternately, a donation can be made to Covenant Hospice, or the charity of your choice in Ricky’s memory.
