Margaret Anne Rivers and Andrew Burg Schilder were united in marriage at 6 p.m. July 26, 2008 at Church Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fred Eugene Zeigler officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Everett Rivers of Selma. The bridegroom is the son of Theresa Davy Schilder of Birmingham and Craig Burg Schilder of Arlington, Va.

The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Lee Dickson Rivers and the late Mr. Rivers of Robertsdale and Mrs. Rufus Waldro Porter and the late Mr. Porter of Selma. The bridegroom is the grandson of the late Zita Hogarty Davy of Irvington, N.J. and the late John J. Davy of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Warren Wayne Schilder and the late Mr. Schilder of Keating, N.J.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore her grandmother’s wedding gown of ivory antique satin. The fitted strapless bodice of Chantilly lace featured a sweetheart neckline and self-covered buttons. The bouffant skirt ended in a circular train edged with deep scallops of matching lace. The heirloom veil was of Brussels lace. The bride carried a hand-gathered bouquet of Amelia roses, white hydrangeas, lisianthus, and calla lilies.

Elizabeth Anderson Radford of Birmingham served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Elizabeth Thompson Drew of Savannah, Ga., Elizabeth Davis Kramer of Woodstock, Ga., Leah Smith Lamphron of Brentwood, Tenn., Catherine Leigh Taylor of Dothan, Catherine Elaine West of Dothan and Kendall Megan Yates of Valley Grande. Junior bridesmaid was Laura Anne Ward, cousin of the bride, of Birmingham.

The bridesmaids wore gowns of spice satin faced taffeta with taupe cummerbund sashes flowing to the floor. They carried hand-tied bouquets of Skyline, Sophie, and Raspberry roses, gerbera daisies, and white hydrangeas.

Bridal attendants were Margaret Callis Cogle of Montgomery, Jessica Jane Cook of Livingston, Melanie LeeAnn Kemp of Camilla, Ga., Diana Lynn Kroemer of Denver, Lane Courtney Landers of Opelika and Jennifer Diane Lewis, cousin of the bride, of Kingwood, Texas.

Paul Allen Ebert of Birmingham served as best man. Groomsmen were Terry Jerome Hundley Jr. of Mobile, William Benjamin Hundley of Dothan, Forrest Earl Jackson of Birmingham, Roy Eduardo Pedroso of Moody, Charles Matthew Register of Birmingham and Clyde Everett Rivers III, brother of the bride, of Selma. Junior groomsman was Porter Lee Rivers, brother of the bride, of Selma.

Ushers were William Rufus Porter Jr. and John Robert Porter, cousins of the bride, of Selma; Sean Bruce Schilder, cousin of the groom, of Smithville, N.J.; and Phillip John Ward, cousin of the bride, of Birmingham.

Program attendants were Erin Tatham McCown of Birmingham, Susanna Leigh Wagoner and Sarah Mitchell Wagoner of Selma.

Wedding music was provided by Sarah Crisman Morelock, organist, and vocalists Anthony Joseph Ciulla and Porter Lee Rivers.

The church was decorated with large planters filled with an array of colorful summer garden flowers. Centered on the altar was a garden-style arrangement of lilies, snapdragons, Belles of Ireland, daisies and roses. Pillar candles displayed in wrought iron candelabra and along the chancel rail were embellished with a medley of lush foliages.

A reception at the Selma Country Club followed the ceremony.

After a wedding trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple resides in Birmingham.
