Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Everett Rivers of Selma announce the engagement of their daughter, Margaret Anne Rivers, to Andrew Burg Schilder, the son of Terry Schilder of Birmingham and Craig Schilder of Arlington, Va.
The bride-elect is a graduate of John Tyler Morgan Academy in Selma. She graudated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics education from Auburn University.
While at Auburn, Miss Rivers was a member of Chi Omega Sorority, the Cater Society, and the Panhellenic Executive Board. She received her Masters of Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
She is employed by the Hoover City School System and teaches at Spain Park High School in Birmingham.
She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Rufus Waldro Porter and the late Mr. Porter of Selma and Mrs. Lee Dickson Rivers and the late CWO-4 Lee Dickson Rivers (U.S. Navy retired) of Robertsdale.
The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Birmingham Southern College where he received a Bachelor of Science in accounting. At Birmingham Southern, he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. He received a juris doctorate from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham and is a member of the Alabama State Bar.
He is employed with Healthsouth Corporation in Birmingham.
He isthe grandson of the late Zita Hogarty Davy of Irvington, N.J., the late John J. Davy of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Warren Wayne Schilder and the late Mr. Schilder of Keating, N.J.
The couple will exchange vows Saturday, July 26, 2008, at Church Street United Methodist Church in Selma.
