BAY MINETTE, Ala. — A Dollar General employee was unharmed when a man entered the store and robbed her at gunpoint, police said.

Capt. Clarence Crook of the Bay Minette Police Department said a white man dressed in blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a dark hooded jacket that partially covered his face, walked into the store on U.S. 31 South at about 8:30 Friday morning.

“There was only one clerk in the store and he made her open the cash register and give him the money,” Crook said. He said the man then left in a red car headed south on the highway. “She did not get the license plate number,” Crook said.

Police do not yet know how much money was taken. Crook said the man was approximately 6 feet tall and weighed around 240 to 250 pounds. No further description was available.

The store opened its doors for business less than a year ago.
