Robert H. Wise

Robert H. Wise died peacefully, Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at a local hospital, with his family by his side.

He was born in 1916 in Clifton Heights, Pa., graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, the Wharton School of Business, had a life-time career with Gulf Oil and the BF Goodrich-Gulf Chemicals Co., with whom he served as vice president of finance.

During World War II, he was assigned by the U.S. government to a taskforce developing a synthetic rubber compound to assist in the war effort.

He was a resident of Lakewood Estates, Point Clear since 1975.

He was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church for 22 years and served as an elder and choir member. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, and Lakewood Golf Club.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret, and second wife, Bobbie; two brothers, Donald and Louis; two nephews, Donald and David Wise.

Survivors include his wife, Blanche Langham Wise; son, Rob (Dorothea) Wise; daughter, Judy Wise; grandchildren, Robert J. Wise and Margo Wise Krugger; great-grandchildren, Robbie, Maryn and Ava May Wise; nieces, Sherry Degraff and Terry Langsea; three step-children, Candace Lynn, Stephen Gibson and Gay Gibson; and four step-grandchildren, Bill and Chris Lynn, Cody and Ashlyn Pierce.

A memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Fairhope. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Private interment will be held at Montrose Cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, Fairhope, or The John McClure Snook Center, Daphne.
