Robert Neil Voshell, 74, of Silverhill, died April 26, 2011.

He was a Kentucky farm boy that dreamed of being a pilot in the military. His dream was fulfilled by being a U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel retiring after 21 years of service.

He started his military career as a KC 135 tanker pilot, serving three tours in Vietnam and finishing his career as a F4 fighter pilot. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky earning a master’s degree. He was a loving and giving, son, father, grandfather, and friend.

Survivors include a daughter, Sherri (Joshua) Gibson of Loxley; grandson, Zachary Gibson, and grandaughter, Zoey Gibson, both of Loxley; and his mother, Sarah Voshell of Robertsdale.

A graveside memorial service with full military honors will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 29 at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS, Pensacola, Fla.

Arrangements are by Mack Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Robertsdale.
