Robert T. Vance of Robertsdale passed away Jan, 3l, 2014 into the arms of Jesus.

He was born June 20, 1927 in Calera, Ala. to John and Lois Vance.

He graduated from the School of Organic Education in Fairhope. He worked as a U.S. Merchant Marine engineer.

Robert enjoyed designing and making fiddles, guitars and elegant birdhouses. His beloved grandson, Mason Henderson, was given a guitar that Mason now plays to entertain audiences.

Robert was a member of the Church of Christ in Robertsdale, and dearly loved his pastor and church family.

Survivors include his sister, Mary (Ben) Sims of Merritt Island, Fla.; niece, Deborah delaFuente (Carlos) of Titusville, Fla.; a nephew, William B. Sims (Cindy) of Allen, Texas; nieces, Jaelle, Danielle, Shayna and Kaylee; granddaughter, Pam (Jeffery) Irons; great-grandson, Jeffery Allen Irons Jr. of Tennessee; and great-step-grand-children, Mason and Paige Henderson of Orange Beach.

Robert was predeceased by his wife, Carrie; stepson, Steve Henderson; and step-grandson, Tim Henderson, who he adopted and raised after Tim’s father’s death.

Robert donated his body to the Anatomical Gifts Program at the University of South Alabama for research purposes.

A memorial service in honor of his life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday Feb. 22, 2014 at the Church of Christ, 18250 Pennsylvania St., Robertsdale.
