GULF SHORES, Ala. - Little Lagoon Preservation Society (LLPS) invites members and the general public to attend a quarterly membership meeting on Thursday, April 18, 5:30 p.m., at the Adult Activity Center in Gulf Shores. The first 30 minutes (5:30-6 p.m.) is an opportunity to mingle and enjoy refreshments with LLPS members, officers, guest speakers, and the general public.
Roberta Swann, Director of the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program, will give the audience an overview of the program, the results of the many different citizen input activities undertaken, and will provide an outline of the priority actions that will be included in the 2013-2018 Comprehensive Conservation Management Plan CCMP.
The Mobile Bay National Estuary Program (MBNEP) is engaged in updating its CCMP to ensure the wise stewardship of the water quality and living resources of our estuarine waters,
Other topics to be discussed following our guest speaker include discussing Little Lagoon Pass and will review court order changes. There will also be an update on the pass as utility lines are being put underground, bridge construction should begin after July 4.
There will be a GAPC updatem a NRDA update, a Website update, a report from the water quality team and a treasurer’s report.
The general public is invited to attend this event and encouraged to join our non-profit society. LLPS strives to: “Preserve and improve the quality of life on and around Little Lagoon by endeavoring to assure that the quality of water in the Little Lagoon is maintained to the highest standards set by the appropriate State and Federal regulatory agencies,
Also by vanding together as a group to influence items of interest or concern to the majority of the membership to include endeavoring to protect the lagoon and surrounding wetlands and wildlife habitat, and Monitoring local, state and federal governments as an advocate and watchdog group to influence matters that might impact Little Lagoon.
